Our History

Southlake Boulevard Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and began as the dream of Presbyterians in North Texas. In 1994, First Presbyterian Church iPCUSA logon Fort Worth bought five acres of land across from the brand new Carroll High School on Highway 1709 in Southlake, Texas, for a future church site. In 1996, a committee of Presbyterians of Grace Presbytery began taking the steps to put a pastor in place to organize the new church. In 1998, the committee invited Dr. Michael Beaugh to be the Organizing Pastor.

Over the summer, Dr. Beaugh held picnics, home meetings, and gatherings at neighborhood clubhouses to tell people about the new church. Then in September, 1998, over 150 people met at Johnson Elementary in Southlake for the first worship service. The music was under the leadership of Layne Littlejohn who has been serving as Director of Music since the church's beginning.

The church met at the school on Sundays for over a year for worship and Christian education before moving to Florence Elementary. During this time, everything used on Sundays had to be hauled to the schools in a trailer, set up, and taken down by volunteers. This teamwork created a strong sense of community and purpose. In May, 1999, 126 individuals became the charter members of Southlake Boulevard Presbyterian Church. The mission of the new church was to reach out to the non-churched with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to focus ministry on the needs of families with children and youth in Northeast Tarrant County.

In that same year, the congregation undertook a capital campaign to raise money for its first building. In May, 2001, the congregation moved into its new multi-/files/Pics/ropes2.jpgpurpose building, and bought an additional acre of land for parking expansion. The first building is part of a master site plan that shows a future sanctuary, classrooms, and fellowship areas.

In its commitment to serving the needs of the community, the church almost immediately began making its multi-purpose gym available for use by children and youth sports teams. Area teams, including groups from Carroll Senior High School, use the gym on a weekly basis.

The church also began a Parents Day Out Program in 2004 to give pre-school children a quality educational experience while parents get a day off. This two-day a week  program serves about 45 children ages 18 months through 4 years old./files/Pics/angels.jpg

Southlake Boulevard Presbyterian Church has always looked for ways to expand its ministry and outreach. In 2004, it began a Small Group Ministry called C.O.R.E. Groups. In 2005, the church added a Certified Christian Educator, Lisa Reece, to its staff to help further develop the church's outreach through education.

Today, Southlake Boulevard Presbyterian Church is a diverse congregation with people of all ages actively participating, but by far, the largest demographic is families with children and youth. They come from many surrounding communities to participate--Keller, Roanoke, Fort Worth, North Richland Hills, Colleyville, Bedford, and Grapevine.

The Future--

Southlake Boulevard Presbyterian Church is not standing still. We are currently in the planning and development stages of the following:

*  Expanding our facilities by adding a mission center with dynamic classrooms for children, youth, and adults

*  Implementing an aggressive Adult discipleship Plan for intentional growth as disciples of Jesus Christ

*  Changing the name of the church to reflect the church’s Core Message

*  Developing a Signature Ministry to make an impact on our community

*  Adding a second worship service that speaks to the non-churched

*  Growing and expanding our current ministries for children and youth
